Dr. Gregory W. Payne, founder of Alpharetta Eye care, is a native of Louisiana and has practiced in the Atlanta area since 1989. Prior to this, Dr. Payne attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana. To further his optometric training, Dr. Payne completed an internship in the treatment of Ocular Disease at Azar-Medivision Eye Center in New Orleans.

Dr. Payne is a member of several professional organizations including the American Optometry Association and the Georgia Optometric Association where he has served as district president.

In his spare time, Dr. Greg enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Jo Ann Payne and his two children, Claire and Margaret.

Dr. Jo Ann Payne, co-founder of Alpharetta Eye care, is a native of Blakely Georgia and has practiced in the Atlanta area since 1990. Dr. Payne received her B.S. in biology from Valdosta State University in 1985 before receiving her doctorate from Southern College in Optometry in 1990. To further her optometric training, Dr. Payne completed an internship in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Ocular Disease at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta.

Dr. Payne is a member of several professional organizations including the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.

When Dr. Jo Ann is not seeing patients she enjoys spending time with her husband and two girls, Claire and Margaret.

Dr. Glenda Brown has practiced in the Atlanta area since 1982. She joined Alpharetta Eye care in 1998. Dr. Brown received her B.S. from the University of Alabama in Birmingham where she also received her Doctorate in Optometry in 1981.

Dr. Brown’s specialty is Pediatric Eye care. She is a respected authority and lecturer on that subject throughout the country. Dr. Brown is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Outside of clinical care of her patients, she and her husband enjoy spending time with their family and 2 grandchildren.

Dr. Scott Emely has practiced in the Atlanta area since 2006 where he completed his residency in ocular disease at Omni Eye Services of Atlanta through the University of Alabama- Birmingham School of Optometry. Dr. Emely received his undergraduate in 2001 and doctorate from the Indiana University in 2006.

Dr. Emely is a member of several professional organizations including the American Optometric Association, National Glaucoma Society and the Georgia Optometric Association.

In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, learning Spanish and Italian, trying new restaurants, watching college basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.  He loves spending time with his wife Gina, who is also an optometrist.  He currently resides in Dunwoody.

Alpharetta Eyecare would like to welcome Dr. Timothy Spence to our practice. Board Certified and Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Spence comes to us with eighteen years of practice experience. His interests include eye disease diagnosis and treatment, fitting specialty contact lenses, and clinical low vision.

Both undergraduate and graduate courses were completed at Ohio State University receiving his doctor of Optometry degree in 1990. A residency in hospital-based optometry was completed at the Cleveland VA medical Center in Ohio. Dr. Spence became recognized as a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry in 1997.

Dr. Spence is married with three children. His wife Christine is an architect with a local architectural/engineering firm.
